ABOUT US

Nevada Volunteers

OUR MISSION

Nevada Volunteers is strengthening Nevada through AmeriCorps and volunteerism.

Who We Are

Our Values and Vision

“A lifetime of giving, a legacy of service, and the promise to make our state a better place always begins with a single act of kindness.  Together, we inspire hundreds of individuals to give their first hour, first minute, first moment of time.  By doing so, we continually replenish and expand our greatest resource for community service—citizens who care enough to make our state better.”  Shawn Lecker-Pomaville, Executive Director, Nevada Volunteers

Nevada Volunteers (a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization) serves as the Governor’s commission to administer AmeriCorps programs throughout Nevada and as the state’s information and resource center for volunteer and service efforts.

In that capacity, we value and strive to:

  • Inspire individuals to engage in acts of giving and service to enrich their own lives and the lives of others
  • Work collaboratively with organizations and businesses across the state who share our value for service and volunteerism
  • Engage and train volunteers and those who work with them to maximize the power of their service
  • Seek funding, including federal AmeriCorps funding, to meet critical needs in our state through service and volunteerism
  • Inspire a culture of volunteerism that impacts lives and enhances the quality of life for all our citizens
Each year Nevada Volunteers hosts the Governor’s Points of Light Awards event to honor individual citizens, organizations, and businesses that have provided outstanding service to Nevada.  Corporate and nonprofit organizations sponsor this event to recognize the dedication, commitment, and impact of volunteer efforts made during the year.  Nevada Volunteers values their leadership and support in providing this recognition!
